  • What is the core user experience of building worlds with Promethean AI?
At Promethean AI we worked hard to distill the most sophisticated creative process in the world down to the most accessible and concise user experience ever. And we have! Drag and dropping an asset from Promethean AI will always automatically bring the asset into your scene fully dressed with all the details you would expect to find with this object in the real world. No more spending time populating a barn or an office desk with detail. Just drag the desk out into the world and Promethean will take care of the rest. So the core workflow is very simple: - Search for the asset in the Promethean Command Line - Drag and drop it in the world, to see a full composition, adjusted to the environment. Tweak to your taste. Note: If you want to bring an asset into a scene with no composition just hold "Shift" as you drag
  • What if my generated composition doesn't look perfect?
At Promethean AI our main priority is power-amplifying artists and creators. We give everyone in the world a starting point for their creative vision. So that you can apply the final polish and tweaks manifesting the creative magic that specifically serves your purpose. And while we strive to make every single Promethean composition shippable, we are going to have plenty on our way that will require a little bit of love from you. And while getting all the right objects in your scene will reliably save you 95% of that construction time, we invite you to use our Physics Simulation tools and Snapping to Surface to speed the last 5% even more!
  • Where can I find free assets to start playing with Promethean AI?
We got you. Just click right here!
  • How do I make Promethean use my assets?
Use the add assets commands to navigate to the assets you want added to the Promethean AI Asset Library. Now Promethean AI does it's best to automatically label your assets without you having to move a finger. But depending on how unusual your assets are, you might need to validate the semantic types it has assigned to your assets and correct them if they don't look right. Please check out our Adding Assets and Promethean Basics tutorials to see all of this in action. Additionally please remember that Promethean AI doesn't move your assets or adjust their storage location in any way and especially never uploads any assets to the cloud without your express knowledge.
  • If I update my assets does Promethean pick up the changes automatically?
Promethean AI will check every few minutes whether the assets in your library have been removed or changed. It will ask for your approval in extracting the new metadata to avoid disrupting your process. If you want to register the updates with Promethean AI immediately, just re-add the asset use the add assets commands. Promethean AI doesn't currently track the files in your project folder that you have not added to your Promethean Asset Library.
  • What is a semantic type?
Semantic Type is how Promethean AI connects your local assets with it's knowledge of how the world is organized. The "table" and "chair" in it's head are abstract, until it connects it to your assets that have a matching Semantic Type. Now Promethean AI does it's best to automatically label your assets without you having to move a finger. But depending on how unusual your assets are, you might need to validate the semantic types it has assigned to your assets and correct them if they don't look right. The labeling UI will appear automatically after the add assets to the library from content browser command. Additionally you can use label selection command or label the assets in the Promethean Browser to set their semantic type.
  • What asset types does Promethean support?
Promethean AI should automatically pick out Meshes, Materials, Textures and Levels when using the "add assets to the library from content browser" command. The file formats will be different depending on your 3d Editor of choice. Independent of your 3d Editor Promethean AI can also analyze and import your Source Assets of various formats to make sure you always have full transparency into the entirety of your assets, even if they have not been imported into your project/3d Editor yet.
  • What is the difference between Mesh Assets and Source Assets?
Mesh Assets are what Promethean uses for world building. They have to be in the format your 3d editor of choice can immediately use. In Unreal for example that would be the Mesh or Blueprint assets stored in .uasset files. In Maya it would be .ma or .mb files. Use add assets to the library from... commands to add these assets. Source Assets combine a lot of files that might go into creation of that final asset. For example source/high-poly geometry files, substance and houdini assets and even concept art. Source Asset Data Mode allows you to take advantage of potentially vast collections of source assets from other projects, that have not yet been imported into your current project. Having transparency into them is great, because if Promethean can not find valid Mesh Assets to use it can alert you of the fact that you have matching Source Assets you can import. Use add source asset from folder commands to add source assets or do it by right-clicking in the browser Source Asset mode.
  • How do I share my Promethean AI asset library with someone?
Any subscription tier aside from the free one allows you to set Shared Promethean Library Folder in your Settings->Asset Library folder. The simplest way to share your assets is to make sure that everyone on your team sets this folder to the same location. Either on a shared network drive or a folder that is synced via Dropxbox/One Drive/Perforce, etc... That's it! For large scale teams we recommend settings a MySQL database server to hold the metadata. Reach out to the Promethean AI team and we'd be happy to walk you through it!
  • What is a Promethean AI command link/url?
You can take any Promethean AI command and turn it into a clickable URL. Click here to ask Promethean how it's doing! You can send it in an email/slack/discord or put it up on a wiki. If other people have Promethean AI installed it will immediately execute your command. A great example would be a teleport link that will load the level you are currently in and move the camera to where you are looking at right now ("get teleport link" command) Additionally you can: - send a link to open an asset ("copy url to open assets selected in content browser" command) - send a link to palette including camera view (Copy Local Link in a Palette context menu) - a browser search - or any command line command. Great for making tutorials and documentation! (right click Promethean button -> Copy Current Command as a Link)
  • How do I search assets by attributes?
Most of the attributes in the Asset Property Panel on the right can be searched by! If you click an Attribute Name your cursor will automatically be transported to the search bar to type in a search value. For numerical attributes use keywords such as more than/less than/around. For example: "Faces: around 2000" You can easily layer additional searches to find all assets under a certain face count, with a specific amount of materials and bigger than a certain size. Asset analytics and optimization is accessible to everyone with the Promethean AI Browser. Make sure to check out the Search Bar Tooltip for more info as well as Browser Basics Tutorial to see it in action.
  • What features make Promethean AI Asset Browser unique?

  • How do I visualize and sort assets by attributes?
Most of the attributes in the Asset Property Panel can be visualized using Asset Node Layout, Color and Size! When you hover over a visualizeable Attribute Name 3 visualization buttons will appear to the right, matching the visualization modes. Click them to see your attribute mapped to nodes Layout, Color or Size. Click again to disable. For example use Layout to order your assets by face count, and Color to highlight the material number to be able to evaluate your assets at a glance. To manipulate the visualization options specifically use the menu triggered by the 'eye' icon to the right of the search bar. Make sure to check out the Browser Visualisation Tutorial to see it in action.
  • How do I visualize all the existing semantic types I have?
Set the Layout Visualization Mode to be based on Semantic Type and choose the Line Layout (Alt + 3 hotkey). If you are not sure how to set the visualization modes please check the questions above!
  • How do I set a semantic type on multiple assets at once?
Select multiple assets in the Asset Browser. In the properties view panel on the right type in the new Semantic Type and press enter to apply it to all the selected assets.
  • What are Asset Tags used for?
Asset Tags participate in asset search both in Browser and in the Suggestion UIs. But their main function is to modify asset choices that Promethean AI makes when suggesting or buliding compositions. For example, when you use the "set context to abandoned" command, every composition you build for than on will use the Promethean AI abandoned knowledge, but if you added any of your own assets, it wouldn't know which to pick. So add an abandoned tag to the fitting assets in the browser and it should speed your construction process a lot. It is also just a great way which assets can participate in which look. To clear out the context just use
  • How do I filter assets by a folder?
Use the folder button on the top left to toggle the folder tree. Clicking any item in the folder tree will show items from that folder. Use Ctrl + Click to select multiple folders at once. Additionally, just like with any other attribute, you can type in Path: Your Search into the filter input at the bottom to filter by all paths that have provided input. Your search will be remembered when you close the browser, but if you want to create a more flexible and robust collection of assets we strongly suggest you add them to palettes instead.
  • How do I add assets to a Palette?
Palettes are an integral part of the Promethean AI workflow so we created a lot of ways for you to quickly add assets to them! - In the Browser Select your Asset Nodes and hit Ctrl + C to copy their info. Use Ctrl + V to Paste them in any Palette! - In the Browser Drag and Drop your Asset Nodes to the Mini Palette Window that appears on the Bottom Right as you start dragging - In the Browser Right Click your Asset Nodes and choose Add to Palette to add the nodes to the last active Palette - Run Browser and Palettes separately and drag from one window to the other - Drag and Drop an Asset from a Suggest UI - Use "add selection to palette" command to add the objects selected into your 3d Editor to a palette by name
  • Can I customize asset types and properties of assets in the Promethean AI Browser?
Enthusiastic Yes! With an Enterprise Subscription you can fully customize the visualized properties in Browser as well the widgets they use. For example you can have a Perforce widget and attributes that will show the Perforce status of assets and give you the ability to check them out/submit them stright from the Browser. Or you can have a Level of Detail widget with attribute inputs and a button to regenerate LoD meshes. That way you'll be able to easily search all assets by LoD info, analyze and visualize the data and regenerate on the spot! Want to connect any of your other databases and visualize which assets get sold more on your marketplace? Easy! Just reach out to the Promethean AI team with any questions or suggestion and we'd be happy to provide you with all the support you might need.
  • What are Promethean Palettes?
Bringing source files, final assets as well all reference and information on where and how your assets are used is extremely complicated in a real production.Sharing all that information with team mates is even harder. That is why we developed a shared space where you can import any files, images, videos, web links, engine assets and level links and have ALL of your asset information in one place! All while still tightly integrated with your 3d editor! Join some of the most celebrated teams in the world that manage their creative vision, asset production and control their entire projects through Promethean Palettes. Make sure to check out our Palette Tutorial or this video right here.
  • How do I share a palette with someone?
Everyone who shares Promethean Asset Library with you automatically shares the palettes as well. This is great for team-wide collaboration. The moment your team-mates update a palette it will automatically refresh for you. To send a link to a palette to someone already on your team, just right-click it in the folder tree or in an empty space with no selection and choose "Copy local link". When you want to share a single palette with someone outside of your team (an outsource artist for example), just right-click in an empty space and chose "Share Current Palette". This will upload the image of the palette and optionally all of it's files onto Promethean AI cloud and will give you a URL to share with your partners. If they follow the link they will be able to download the palette, open it and then modify and share it back with you the same way. Warning! this way doesn't automatically update the palettes. You need to use the link to refresh them. And finally, if you want to just share a full-res image of the palette right click an empty space and select "Copy Current Palette as Image".
  • What is the difference between importing and linking files?
When you choose import, your files are stored directly in the Palettes so you can be confident that anyone that has access to the Palettes has access to the files! This is great for distributed teams, outsource management and asset-centric workflows or for any team that doesn't want to bother with inevitably obscure folder structures. Just send a link to the palette to anyone that needs the files and they are guaranteed to find them. When you choose to link files, they are referenced from their original location. The interaction with the files is the same: just double-click to open or drag and drop to import! Make sure to check out Palette Templates to see production tested examples of them in action.
  • Why does my context menu look different sometimes?
Promethean Palettes context menu is dependent on your current selection! There a lot of things you can do in Palettes and sometimes it's easy to get lost in all the available features. To let you know what exactly you can do right now, we only show you the options that are meaningful in the moment. For example, "Analyze Image" tool makes sense only for image nodes while "Find in Explorer" can work with any local file node. So you can consider right-clicking on different nodes a way to learn about the features that Promethean Palettes can offer to you.
  • What is a palette template?
Promethean Palettes are great for managing production of any kind of asset, level or shot on your project. One thing our creators want to manage those effectively is consistency across the structure of all those palettes. That is where Palette Templates come in! Just make one example of how a character/prop/environment palette should be laid out, right-click on your palette in the folder tree and click "Save as a template". Now, when creating a new Palette you'll have an option to create "New Palette from Template". All the templates are stored in the Templates folder, so you always can add/edit/remove palettes from there.
  • Where can you find production tested palette examples?
Get them from templates folder after installing our base palette pack! It should be installed for you be default, but if you end up changing or removing any of them you can always reinstall them using this command.
  • What is a timelapse node?
Timelapse Node is a Palette Image Sequence Node that stores a Teleportation Link to your current 3d Editor view and captures a screenshot of that view. You can then use the Palettes to capture updated images of all Timelapse Nodes and have an overview of the progress of all your camera angles and levels at once. Like a command center for your entire project. Double clicking on the Timelapse Node will teleport your 3d Editor to that place so you can and should use it for quick navigation across your entire project.
